Welcome to The Light!

Being the new person anywhere, especially at church, can be intimidating. We hope that your first time visiting our community, you find it to be a place where you can belong. Below is some information to help you feel more in the know when you visit the Light.

Who We Are

We are a church of small groups, who gather all over the four-state area during the week and come together on Sundays to celebrate what God is doing in and through us. We believe that faith is best lived out in community and that’s why our Connect Groups are the core of our church. They’re all about building authentic relationships that deepen our desire for God and clarify our purpose, so we can shine God’s light in our cities.

Vision, Mission and Core Values

Our mission is to empower a diverse group of people to reveal the full image and light of Christ, so that our four-state cities are lit up with the blessing and love of God. If the Church is a stained-glass window, we believe that each individual reflects a unique part of who God is in the world. As we each shine God’s light in the unique way he’s gifted us to, the full image of Christ is revealed and our cities begin to flourish with creativity and blessing. We believe God is asking us to be apart of making our cities beautiful, safe and vibrant places to live.

Participating in our Connection Point lunch is a great way to find out more about who we are, where we’re headed, and how you can be apart of what God is doing through our church family. As a quick reference, read up on our mission, vision, and core values.

Sunday Gatherings

Our Sunday Gatherings are one of the many ways we gather as a church community. Every Sunday we gather to encourage each other in authentic, life-giving ways and encounter God together. In other words, we don’t want your “church face,” we want the real, authentic you. As we become real together, we find that God is in our midst, and he can heal the deep-seated beliefs of our hearts that we sometimes believe: that we don’t belong or aren’t enough. We encounter God together in a variety of ways, including worshiping through song, creative arts, sharing stories, communion, encouraging one another, prayer, giving, practicing spiritual disciplines and teaching.

What to Expect

When you come to one of our Sunday or weekday gatherings, you’ll find people just like you: diverse in their age, race, and social-economic background. They are creatives, blended families, young marrieds, business owners, recovering addicts, single parents, professionals, foster parents, college students, and singles. Some have known Jesus for many years, others have recently come back to Christ and still others have yet to meet Him.

Our environment is casual, you’ll see people wearing shorts and flip flops sitting next to people dressed up - come as you are.

We’ve been told that we’re a pretty welcoming group too, so don’t be surprised if people greet you, come up to chat, or even offer you a hug at the end of a good conversation! Also, be sure to stop by the Connection Center in the lobby to pick up a small gift we have for any first-time guests. You can also ask any questions you have and find out more about our church there.

Families with Children

Our Glow Kids program is for children nursing age up to 6th grade. We break our classes into nursery (0-2 years), pre-k (3-5 years), and elementary (6-12 years). Each classroom has background checked, Safe Sanctuary Certified teachers who are trained to facilitate engaging and Biblically-centered teaching with the age-group they are working with. With the exception of the nursery, each classroom has an age-appropriate lesson that mirrors what the adults hear each week as a way for you to engage in spiritual conversation with your kids throughout the week. Be sure to arrive a little early so you can check your kids in at the Glow Kids check-in station on the right side of the lobby.

On months that have a 5th Sunday, we do what we call a “Family Sunday” and encourage the entire family to serve and worship together. On these weeks, please be aware that there will be no Glow Kids program, with the exception that nursery will be available for children 0-2 years old. Instead, the entire gathering is geared to engage the whole family, from the songs we sing to the teaching we hear.
